Golden Hill Fort

Originally built as a defensive barracks in the 1860s, Golden Hill Fort in Freshwater is an imposing landmark. Since it's heydey it has lived many lives and is now high-end private housing, however, amongst the beautifully renovated homes are said to roam many former occupants including a sergeant said to have been dispatched by his own men and a traitor executed for attempting to sell secrets. With phantom smells, banging doors and footsteps in the night, Golden Hill Fort is far from at rest.
