Dressed in grey; smudged with black and gold and veiled in silver, Margaret tells a famous story.

The Dick family were friends to author Charles Dickens, who would often visit Bonchurch where the family resided. When Margaret Dick was cruelly jilted on the morning of her wedding in 1860, she removed herself to Madeira Hall in Ventnor where she lived in complete isolation in an upstairs room, receiving her meals through a trapdoor, until her death in 1878. It is widely believed that upon hearing of this on a visit in 1860, Margaret became his inspiration for the character of Miss Havisham in Great Expectations which was published later that same year. The lonely spirit of Margaret Dick is said to still be seen and heard throughout Madeira Hall...

Our large ghost figurines measure approximately 8 cm tall and are hand-made with care on the Isle of Wight, thought to be the most haunted island in the world. Each ghost is completely unique and features an Isle of Wight shaped base. Matt finish. Please note that by virtue of the hand-making and finishing process, minor imperfections and slight colour variations may be present. These are normal and add to the character of each spirit, with each one being a true one-of-a-kind.
